New School Playground Project

Project Period – Approx 30 weeks – Value – £275,000

Following a successful tender acceptance we were tasked with constructing a new playground area at a local school.

The extent of works rapidly increased to include additional works to other areas of the school which were incorporated into the programme of works. CSBD worked as part of a small team including nominated Surveyors, Engineers and Quantity Surveyors along with the School to deliver a timely programme to meet the specific design requirements and to the standards expected by the client.

The project comprised of the following:

Clearance of allotment gardens to a reduced level

Supply and installation of a soft pour multi sports court complete with fencing

Paving and shaped pathways

Child friendly staircases to lower level complete with safety railings, fencing and handrails

Supply of cycle shelter and signage to match existing shelters/signs on the site

Drainage alterations and installation of new soakaway in existing playground areas

Complete replacement of kitchen units including tiling and flooring

Levelling and grading of soil banks to other areas

Clearance of old outbuildings and contents

The works were undertaken during school holidays and also where possible term time. Working alongside the school to minimise disruption during this period to staff, pupils and also local residents was paramount in the successful delivery of this project.

Following conclusion of works CSBD has continued working with both the school and the design team on a number of other projects and is looking forward this relationship continuing.
