Project Period – 10 weeks – Value – £50,000

Working with a long standing client, a local college CSBD were tasked with refurbishing 2 buildings on the same campus to provide a teaching facility for plastering.

One building was being used as a gym and classroom and the other was an overflow classroom. Following initial stripping out works the construction was completed during the summer holiday period. The deadline was key as the college required a functioning facility ready for new starters on the plastering course starting in September.

The project comprised of the following:

  • Removal of existing partitions and benching to leave empty buildings

  • Removal of mezzanine structure

  • Repairs to suspended ceiling grid and associated lighting.

  • Installation of wall mounted electric heating to both buildings.

  • Installation of individual training booths.

  • Some were of stud construction and some masonry to allow different plastering techniques to be taught.

  • Installation of individual lighting and power to each booth.

  • Installation of wash out sinks and water supply taps.

  • Installation of perimeter work benching for PC terminals

  • Construction of fenced wash out and storage area complete with timber canopy structure.

Working alongside the college the design was adapted and constructed to maximise the potential of the facility whilst maintaining the original budget.

The project was delivered on time and to the satisfaction of the client and is today fully utilised by many new and existing students. CSBD continues to have a strong working relationship with the college.
